Who does the electric company turn to when it wants to save energy?

Exelon Corporation is one of the nation's largest energy companies. When the company slated a renovation of its Fairless Hills, Pa., generating plant they called on Westinghouse Lighting Solutions (WLS) to provide a customized T5 fluorescent system that cut energy use by 80 percent and more than doubled light output to create a brighter, safer workplace.

Since its inception in 1977, West Marine of Watsonville, Calif., has become one of America's top retail and wholesale recreational boating products suppliers. When the metal halide lamps in its 476,000-sq.-ft. South Carolina distribution center reached the end of their useful life, the company sought a more energy-efficient lighting system.

5/07 — National Beverage Manufacturer Cuts Lighting Maintenance and Energy Costs With High Performance Fluorescent Fixtures. ››

Westinghouse’s lighting retrofit for a national beverage manufacturer resulted in approximately $125,000 in annual cost savings through a 60% reduction in energy use. By replacing the manufacturer’s existing metal halide and T12 fluorescent fixtures with Westinghouse’s T5 high output (HO) fluorescent system, the 24/7 business operation also improved its light levels.


3/07 — ACE Hardware Distribution Center Updates Lighting System to Maximize Monthly Energy Savings and Increase Light Levels. ››

Faced with the choice to either re-lamp metal halides or retrofit their entire distribution center in Maumelle, Ark., ACE Hardware turned to Westinghouse Lighting Solutions for a customized T5 system that improved their lighting power density (LPD) by 65% and saved 70% in energy costs.


9/06 — New Sea Gull Lighting Warehouse Installs Westinghouse System to Cut Energy and Maintenance Costs. ››

Sea Gull sought an efficient lighting system for their new 503,000-square-foot warehouse in Burlington, N.J., with mostly high-rack aisles. Completed at the end of 2005, Westinghouse engineered and installed a system comprising 510 2-lamp, 54-watt T5 high output (HO) narrow beam fixtures and 77 3-lamp, 54-watt, T5HO medium beam fixtures for Sea Gull. The fixtures' beam control eliminated unnecessary light over the racks and focused it precisely where it was needed most in each aisle. At a mounting height of 33', the lighting system produced a foot candle average of 14.
